Bund fuer Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland e.V. (BUND) / Friends of the Earth Germany has about 600,000 supporters: There are over 2,000 BUND groups across Germany, dealing directly with the issues that are important where they live. BUND fights for sustainable development and climate protection, at home and around the world. As a member of the Friends of the Earth network, we work with environmental groups in over 70 countries, to create a better and fairer world.
The Independent Institute for Environmental Issues (UfU e.V.) is both a scientific and officially recognized non-governmental organization that consists of four departments: Energy Efficiency & Energy Transition, Climate Protection & Transformative Education, Environmental Law & Participation and Nature Protection & Environmental Communication. Approximately 35 employees are currently working at UfU in Berlin and Halle (Saale), Germany. In addition, there are regular cooperations with freelance collaborators. UfU is mainly working on research assignments and model projects financed by federal ministries, federal states and municipalities as well as foundations. In addition to its scientific activities, the institute initiates and engages in local and international projects and networks working on sustainability and socio-ecological transformation.
